Under the Weather

About the “Under the Weather” project

Currently little is known about how people experiencing homelessness are impacted by climate change preventing effective interventions.

This project aims to provide preliminary data for future research by examining climate effects and current practice around people experiencing homelessness within Western Australia. Working in partnership with services and Rockingham council, we will collect information from people experiencing homelessness and homelessness services.

By describing impacts of extreme climate, mapping current strategies, and co-designing data collection this project will provide the foundations for future research grants while also strengthening research partnerships.

‘You can’t escape it’

Many of the most direct effects of exposure to the elements stem from a lack of appropriate shelter.

This has always been the case for people without a home or agency over places to shelter,  but further exacerbated by climate change
