Student Project Ideas

  • The Impact of Climate on Homelessness

    Information coming soon.

  • Pregnancy & Homelessness

    Information coming soon.

  • Chronic Health & Hospital Use

We have hospital data available for ~10,000 people who have experienced homelessness. Projects could explore the prevalence of specific health conditions (e.g., epilepsy, diabetes, chronic pain), or could explore multi-morbidity.

  • Engaging in Outpatient Care

    Information coming soon.

  • Pets & Homelessness

“No pets allowed” is a default of many housing services. This project could explore current policies & practices regarding pets for people utilising housing services (e.g., mental health supported accommodation, transitional accommodation, aged care, women’s refuges) and identify the barriers and impacts this has on service access.

  • Social Media Conversations on Homelessness

This project could explore public viewpoints on homelessness through a qualitative examination of relevant social media conversations. It will adapt a methodology used in a recent Canadian study, that explored how homelessness was discussed and stereotyped in public Facebook groups.

The above are suggested project ideas only. We are are open to a wide range of projects in the space of homelessness and social determinants of health.

Please contact us if you are interested in undertaking a research project.
